Academics, leadership, and community service all play a role in the selection of National Honor Society members. Members are required to have at least a 3.25 grade point average and have good character and leadership skills. Students who are chose are usally active in clubs. The purpose of the National Honor Society (NHS) is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to help out in the community, promote leadership, and develop character in high school juniors and seniors. The sponsor for Sparta High's NHS program is Ms. Frederking.
